If you would like to be part of this year's team of volunteers during the carnival and get a free cool t-shirt, there's still time to join in the fun! Volunteer Orientation will take place at 7pm on Monday, August 22nd, 2016 at the Hauser Haus room on the second floor of the Waterloo Memorial Recreational Complex at 101 Father David Bauer Drive.

Here is a list of the positions which are available:

Carnival Ambassadors

Carnival Ambassadors circulate through the crowd in small teams answering questions, distributing programs, and assisting the public as required ensuring everyone is able to safely enjoy the Carnival. Carnival Ambassadors will work in pairs. They act as the eyes and ears within the Carnival! Duties may include operating a radio, recognizing situations that require escalation (from lost children to spills needing cleanup).

Roving Freezie Sellers

Volunteers will be responsible for selling freezies from a wagon or wheeled cooler. Duties will include making change, managing a small cash float and replenishing supplies as needed. Comfortable shoes required. Excellent role for the young at heart!

Information Tent Attendant

Volunteers at the Information Tent will assist the public by answering general questions about the Carnival and providing directions to different areas within the Carnival. Duties may include selling freezies, maintaining the items within the Lost and Found, managing the Volunteer supplies, maintaining the appearance of the Information Tent and operating a radio to communicate with other Volunteers.

Carnival Set-up / Tear-down (includes clean-up)

Volunteers will help set up the Carnival. At the end of the Carnival, volunteers will assist with clean-up activities around the Carnival. Volunteers will also assist with tear-down activities. Duties include setting up equipment and decorating the Carnival grounds. At the end of the Carnival, volunteers will help cleaning up the carnival grounds, the Green Room, tearing down tents and neatly packing up supplies for reuse next year. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes during their shifts - please no open-toed shoes. Volunteers must also be able to comfortably lift 50 lbs. IMPORTANT: All volunteers in this position must be able to follow instructions precisely and be comfortable asking questions if they do not understand instructions given.
