The theme for the 17th annual Waterloo Busker Carnival was "setting the streets on fire". So when Chairperson, Randy Warren, noted that "you may just become part of the show", you had to wonder what was in store for busker fans!
In addition to Festival of Fools on Wednesday, August 24th, the red hot carnival ran for four days from August 25th to 28th. From Opening Ceremonies on Thursday to Kidz Day on Saturday and Sunday, the Adult Show on Saturday night, and of course, The Family Vaudeville Show on Sunday at 4pm, this years fire laden lineup of buskers was as unique as it was outstanding:
Alakazam, Australia - contortion, stunts, comedy
All Star Skateboard Circus, Montreal - ticks, flips, fire, juggling
Buckethead, Vancouver - fire, stunts, comedy
Ella Vate, Toronto - stilt walking, violinist
Etienne, Maryland - circus tricks, magic, comedy
Flying Debris, Red Deer/Vancouver - comedy, juggling, improv
PitterPat, Florida - face painting extraordinaire
Heather Swain, Edmonton - mime, comedy
Scott Free, Vancouver - escape, comedy, daredevil tricks
Scott Hammell, Toronto - magic
Spark, Calgary - fire eating, circus tricks
SplashNBoots, Kingston - childrens entertainment, music
Trip Inc, Australia - magic, comedy, hypnosis
Trulee Odd, Hamilton - juggling, unicycling, comedy
Les Walkeyries, Montreal - fire, acrobatics, music, fantasy
Vincent Dube, Quebec - unique juggling, comedy
Note:
Alakazam makes his 2nd appearance at the carnival and is truly a fan favourite.
Trulee Odd is truly odd and crazy and nuts. He actually started busking after seeing a busker blowing fire. He was mesmerized and soon mastered fire eating as part of his act.
