History of the Waterloo Busker Carnival: 2009 - Year 21

From August 26th to 30th, the 21st carnival had all the usual great moments including Festival of Fools the popular and intimate busker review that raised funds to support the carnival. This time, located at Rim Park the location of this fun-filled event right up to the 25th anniversary of the carnival. There was, of course, Opening Ceremonies with the Community BBQ, Kidz Day on Friday and Saturday, the Naughty No No Show hosted by the Aerial Angels, and then the wrap-up finale the Family Vaudeville Show.

Despite all of this, there was a secret event that only one member of the busker committee knew about. Daniel Craig of The Dan Show was coming to the carnival unannounced. He wasnt there to do his usual gig but certainly, it was the performance of his lifetime. Six years earlier, he had met Kimberly Olsen-Wheeler, a member of the Aerial Angels, at another busker event. In fact in 2008, both his show and the Aerial Angels performed at the 20th anniversary of the Waterloo Busker Carnival. Their photos were even beside each other in the program. Then of all the angels to feature in The Record, Kimberlys photo appeared for the 2009 carnival.

Why was all this so special? Dan surprised Kimberly at the Waterloo Busker Carnival and proposed to her! It was a first for the carnival and a moment to treasure for all-time. The couple married on September 10th, 2010 and set out as what busker fans now know as Street Circus!
